How it Works

RPL aims to provide individuals who believe they are already competent with a flexible way to have their skills and knowledge assessed. This is done against the nationally recognised competencies in Training Packages and accredited courses.

RPL is granted where the candidate is able to provide sufficient evidence of their competence in a unit as determined by the appointed RPL assessor. This can include past training or work experience.

If you have completed past studies in areas related to the qualification you plan to enrol in, you may be eligible for credit transfer.

Credit transfer is a process that provides students with agreed and consistent credit outcomes for components of a qualification. It is based on identified equivalence in content and learning outcomes between matched qualifications.

Credit Transfer relates to the recognition of equivalent units issued by RTOs other than SAI Global or the recognition of superseded units issued by other RTO's or SAI Global.

You will need to provide documentation of your past study so an assessor can make a decision about whether a credit transfer can be granted. This includes JP certified copies of your transcripts.

It is important to have an understanding of the units of competency you need to obtain to achieve a qualification. This will help you identify the skills and knowledge required to be deemed competent. RPL checklists provide you with that understanding and are available for all qualifications issued by SAI Global. The checklists give you a brief overview of relevant units of competency for your course or qualification and help you determine if RPL is a possible and the right option for you.

Steps to apply for RPL or Credit Transfer:

  • Complete the Credit RPL enquiry form and return this to SAI Global
(Fax: 1300 727 888 or scan and email to TrainingServices@saiglobal.com)
  • Attach your CV/Resume and copies of any relevant existing qualifications
  • An SAI Global assessor will contact you to discuss your enquiry and will issue you with an Application Form if you wish to proceed.
  • Credit transfer applicants will have their applications finalised at this stage
  • RPL applicants will be issued with an evidence map for each unit of competency on their application. The evidence map will help you document your evidence for submission.

By forwarding in your application form, you are agreeing to our Terms and Conditions; this includes an administration/assessor fee of from $350 per AQF unit of competency.

The price quoted above covers the following process:

  • 1st submission of RPL application + portfolio of evidence
  • 1st evaluation of your portfolio by a qualified Assessor
  • Personal or telephone interview to clarify evidence and confirm underpinning knowledge
  • If your portfolio does not contain sufficient evidence of your competency, the assessor will provide detailed feedback and you will be given the opportunity to re-submit your portfolio
2nd evaluation of your portfolio (if required)

* A special rate from $75 per unit applies to RPL of the entry units for the Diploma

We have 3 different fee structures:

  • Units that are exactly the same as those currently within SAI Global's scope: from $50 flat rate.
  • Units that are similar, but were issued under a previous version, or, may differ in minor way from the current unit (eg a letter A at the end instead of a B): from $50 per unit.
  • Units from a different training package which may be used as electives towards the qualification: from $150 per unit.

NB: Should you be unsuccessful in your application, please be advised that the application fee is not refundable; however, you are entitled to re-submit your application a second time for no further charge.

Once your enrollment form is received at SAI Global, you will be notified of your enrollment and sent an invoice. Upon payment, your application will then be actioned by an assessor. Please allow between 4-6 weeks to receive confirmation of your outcome.
