IAFT 16949:2016 has been published and will supersede ISO/TS 16949:2009

IATF 16949:2016 was published in October 2016 and will supersede ISO/TS 16949:2009. It is aligned with and refer to the most recent version of ISO quality management system ISO 9001:2015. IATF 16949:2016 fully respects ISO 9001:2015 structure and requirements. Note that all audits from October 1, 2017 will be to the new standard. Furthermore, the Standard continues to include more common Automotive customer specific requirements as prescribed by the individual OEM vehicle manufacturer.

All organizations currently certified to ISO/TS 16949:2009 will be required to transition to the new standard by September 14, 2018. After October 1, 2017 there will be no further audits to the prior version and will be to IATF 16949:2016. All transition audits will be a full system audit equivalent to a recertification audit duration, including an off-site documentation review, and will start a new three year cycle. A training package to support organizations’ transition to ISO 16949:2016, including a GAP Analysis, is expected to be provided from IATF/IAOB to certifying bodies by early October.
