SAI Global Product Certification offers a number of certification schemes tailored for horticultural products. These certification services include:
certification is offered by SAI Global for a large number of horticultural products for example, potting mixes, soils for landscaping and garden use, composts, soil conditioners and mulches and many more.
Second Party Inspections and Assessments are based on the requirements of our clients, as opposed to a specific Standard. The compliance can be to a process or to a product, against an agreed specification. The purpose of a second party inspection and assessment is to provide the customer with objective evidence of compliance to a specification, as agreed between customer and supplier.
Laboratory Recognition is offered to those laboratories which do not carry ILAC member accreditation for a specific standard and/or test method. These laboratories can be added to the SAI Global Recognised Laboratory Listing following an assessment of their test facilities to the specified standard and/or test method. The laboratory itself must also be able to demonstrate conformity to ISO/IEC 17025 in the test methods that will form the basis of the test report(s) supplied to SAI Global.
StandardsMark™ Certified Compost Scheme
is offered by SAI Global so that consumers can now have confidence in the quality of composted mulches and composted soil conditioners following the launch of the joint StandardsMark and Certified Compost Marking Scheme.
Under the joint marking scheme, available to members of the Waste Management Association of Australia (WMAA), individual compost and mulch products will be certified to ensure they meet a set of quality assured criteria guaranteeing the standard of compost products for landscapers, agriculturists, viticulturists and home gardeners.
Participating products will be independently certified through a process requiring strict and fully documented quality management systems for compost production; registration of application-specific products; independent auditing of composting processes; and laboratory testing of compost products.
Products certified by SAI Global will be licensed to use the ‘5 Ticks’ StandardsMark™ and the distinctive Certified Compost leaf logo.
Benefits of the StandardsMark™ Certified Compost Certification
Both the compost manufacturers and compost users benefit from increased levels of product certification. Poor quality compost products that are not designed for specific applications can cause damage to a customer’s business and more broadly reduce customer confidence, undermining attempts to expand into new market segments. Quality manufacturers and their products must be separated from inferior, poorly designed composts in the eyes of the consumer.
