Land, Explosives and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2019

The Land, Explosives and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2019 (LEOLA Act 2019) became law on 29 March 2019 and amended a number of Acts, including the Land Title Act 1994 and the Land Act 1994.

The LEOLA Act 2019 is available on the Queensland Legislation website

New provisions that eliminate paper certificates of title will commence on 1 October 2019.

Minor amendments that commenced on assent include:

Land Title Act 1994

  • Section 69 Surrendering a lease
  • Section 111 Registering personal representatives  
  • Sections 121, 123, 124, 126, 128 and 197 Caveat related amendments 

Land Act 1994

  • Section 373A Covenant by registration

Where there are Land Act provisions corresponding to those in the Land Title Act identified above, these have been amended in similar way.
For further information, please refer to the relevant Act. 

The Land Title Practice Manual will be updated in the near future to reflect these changes.
