SAI Global are excited to be attending the Human factors application in major hazard industries event hosted by the Energy Institute

SAI Global will be attending an event hosted by the Energy Institute entitled Human factors application in major hazard industries. The event takes place on 17th - 18th October at the Energy Institute in London.

The event will explore the practical application of human factors in the management of major accident hazards (MAH). The event will focus on two key themes:

1.       Safety II - Safety as success not failure: exploring human factors in improving performance rather than focusing on human failure. Exploring human factors outside of safety.

  • Using leading indicators in the prevention of the incidents
  • The power of a safety intervention
  • Human and organisational factors in end of service life and decommissioning, or life extension
  • Working with contractors proactively
    • Humans as positive component of safety management system

2.       Good safety is good business: safety is the outcome of a well-managed process. Safety therefore goes hand in hand with good business.

  • Use of new technology; overcoming challenges
  • Applying human factors to improving areas of business risk management other than HSE management
  • Identifying weak signals
  • learning from incidents, including management level learning
  • Case studies on business benefits of safety performance

SAI global will have a stand at the event where we will be showcasing our EHS software. The software was recently selected as a leader in the Verdantix EHS software Green Quadrant and can help you track, monitor and report on EHS data affected by your team and escalate any potential problems so action can be taken. Track areas such as staff medicals, permits and training, risk assessments, hazards, accidents and incidents. It will ensure staff are operating consistently and following processes to significantly reduce accidents. There is an app so information can be captured on the go and reports and dashboards can present the facts and workflows can escalate problems.
