• The National Construction Code (NCC) is developed by the Australian Building Codes Board on behalf of the Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments. The NCC provides a nationally accepted uniform set of technical requirements for all areas of building, from design to construction.

Commonly referred to as the building codes, NCC covers topics such as structure, fire resistance, plumbing, health and amenity, building access and egress, and building services and equipment.

The NCC is comprised of the following publications:

    • Volume 1 (BCA): Commercial and Multi-Residential Buildings (Class 2 to 9 buildings)
    • Volume 2 (BCA): Residential and Non-Habitable Constructions (Class 1 and 10 buildings)
    • Volume 3 (PCA): The Plumbing Code of Australia
    • A Guide to Volume 1 (companion guidance manual)
    • Consolidated Performance Requirements (general and performance requirements for Volumes 1, 2 and 3)
