Birth Certificates required for VOI

Obtaining Full Birth Certificates from Births Deaths and Marriages Victoria:

Conveyancers who elect to personally undertake a Verification of Identity (VOI) on a client must take 'reasonable steps' to identify that person.  
 
Certain categories of documents are specified (see here), the highest category being a passport and driver's licence. If these documents are not available, the next category requires a full birth certificate plus a Medicate or Centrelink card.   
Obtaining an original full birth certificate from Birth Deaths and Marriages takes 10 business days to obtain a full birth certificate, plus 6 days for the Australia Post Regular Postal Service.
 
Parties to a property transaction or their representatives required to apply for these certificates are encouraged to apply at the earliest opportunity.
