SRA Builds Extensive Compliance Program Using Varied Learning Formats and Styles

For more than three decades, SRA International (SRA) has been dedicated to solving complex problems of global significance for clients in national security, civil government and global health. With honesty and service being embedded into the core of the business since its inception, SRA's leadership had already laid the foundation to create a culture of integrity throughout the organization. And, as the U.S. Government instituted guidelines for effective compliance and ethics programs, SRA built their compliance program based on that foundation.

Building an Extensive Compliance Program

In 2006, SRA already had an established Code of Conduct in written form. To further demonstrate their commitment to their compliance program, the company partnered with SAI Global to develop a custom Code training for their growing employee population now at more than 7,000 throughout the U.S. and Europe. The aim of the training was to communicate SRA's written policy into practical, realistic examples that could be applied on a day-to-day basis and raise awareness of the company's Code. Complete with a customized introduction from an SRA senior leader, this course reflected SRA's corporate identity, values, policies and procedures.

The courses that SAI Global provided were a natural fit to our compliance program and a fantastic way for us to remind employees of appropriate behavior

Director of Learning and Development

Shortly after the success of their custom Code, SRA began deploying full length training courses to targeted segments of employees.  Utilizing content from SAI Global's extensive library, SRA selected topics and culturally diverse scenarios that aligned with their program goals.  Based on SAI Global's award-winning Storytorial format, combining the power of storytelling with tutorials built on proven principles of instructional design, SRA's choices included the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Procurement Integrity and Export Control.  To reinforce the key messages of the full length trainings and maintain the momentum of their compliance program, SRA used SAI Global's Ethical Moments®.  These innovative 3-5 minute videos use real life examples to highlight key risk areas.

The Ethical Moments were extremely helpful in reminding employees of relevant issues

There are many things we expected when we started working with SAI Global, but it’s the unexpected benefits that really speak to the quality of that partnership – the ability to tailor messages to employees, the flexibility of the Services team, and the validated record keeping that easily confirms our commitment to ethics and compliance

Anne Donohue

Vice President and Chief Legal Officer

Recognizing the increased sensitivity to the amount of time employees spend in training, SRA launched several Short Takes from the SAI Global library.  These courses enabled SRA to deliver and supplement the key messages of their full length trainings in 5-10 minute segments instead of the traditional 45 minute courses.   With nearly 6,000 of SRA's employees billable, every hour they are pulled for training effects the company's bottom line.

The Short Takes helped us focus and explore in more depth the important topics that needed more coverage and detail. They fit into our strategy very well

All delivered via SAI Global's Learning Management System (LMS), the SAI Global courseware gives SRA the flexibility to deploy quickly and efficiently.

The e-learning formats SAI Global has developed are incredibly efficient. The flexibility allows us to reach an audience that we’d have a hard time reaching – if at all – in a standard classroom.
