BRC Packaging and Packaging Materials

SAI Global undertake inspections and certification to the BRC  “Standard for Food Packaging Materials”, and have a number of inspectors that specialise in this area of the food industry in particular.
What the standard covers
The Standard applies primarily to the manufacturing of converted packaging used in food packaging and filling operations.  It is also intended to apply to: prior converting operations; operations supplying packaging materials from stock where additional product processing or repacking occurs; and, consumer disposable goods that come into contact with food that are made from packaging materials or material intended for food preparation.
Certification in accordance with the Standard will demonstrate conformance with requirements in the areas of: organization; hazard and risk management systems; technical management systems; factory standards, contamination control and personnel.

Accredited certification in connection with a well recognized practical standard developed specifically for the food packaging industry to control hygiene and contamination hazards. 
Independent verification of a food manufacturers hazard analysis and contamination control procedures. Participants host one evaluation visit per period that is potentially recognised by multiple purchasers and customers. Contributes to both the food packaging manufacturers and their food manufacturing customers due diligence.

From major UK food retailers and other purchasers of food packaging and other packaging materials.  Increasing recognized by purchasers in other parts of the World.

Specialist food packaging technologist, who are acknowledged as being expert on their areas of evaluation work.
Who does the certification?
The independent certification review is undertaken by members of SAI Global staff, who hold expertise in the expectations of the Standard, risk assessment principles and the control of potential contaminants.
