The new version of the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety, Issue 7 (BRC 7), was published in January 2015. BRC 7 seeks to specify food safety, quality and operational
standards that help protect food manufacturers against legal liability while safeguarding the well-being of consumers.
This whitepaper, written by Siarl Siviyer Dixon, Technical Manager Agri-Food, highlights the key changes to BRC Global Standard for Food Safety when trasitioning from Issue 6 to Issue 7.
In particular, the changes focus on ensuring:
Consistent audit processes
Adequate flexibility through added voluntary modules that reduce audit burdens
Reduced exposure to fraud
Greater transparency and traceability in the supply chain
Applicability to small sites where processes are still under development
