Whitepaper: BRC Global Standard for Food Safety Issue 7 - Key Changes

The new version of the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety, Issue 7 (BRC 7), was published in January 2015. BRC 7 seeks to specify food safety, quality and operational
standards that help protect food manufacturers against legal liability while safeguarding the well-being of consumers.

This whitepaper, written by Siarl Siviyer Dixon, Technical Manager Agri-Food, highlights the key changes to BRC Global Standard for Food Safety when trasitioning from Issue 6 to Issue 7.

In particular, the changes focus on ensuring:

  • Consistent audit processes

  • Adequate flexibility through added voluntary modules that reduce audit burdens

  • Reduced exposure to fraud

  • Greater transparency and traceability in the supply chain

  • Applicability to small sites where processes are still under development
