Sydney, Australia, 24 November 2008: SAI Global Limited is pleased to announce the release of the revised Standard ISO 9001:2008, Quality management systems, by the International Standards Organisation (ISO).
ISO 9001:2008 will provide clarification to the existing requirements of ISO 9001:2000 based on feedback that ISO had received from various stakeholders and users of the Standard worldwide over the intervening period. The 2008 version also promotes ease of use across all business sectors and improves consistency when integrating with the environmental management Standard, ISO 14001:2004, Environmental management systems.
It is estimated that over 1 million organisations in 170 countries have had their management systems verified against ISO 9001. A system based on ISO 9001 can help to provide a framework within which to address the many issues businesses face today like Customer satisfaction; Complying with regulatory requirements; Continual improvement; Organisational effectiveness; and increased product and service quality.
‘According to the JAS-ANZ register, SAI Global has the largest market share of Quality Management System Certification in Australia. We welcome the additional clarification to the Standard and hope that more companies can begin to incorporate an Environmental Management System into their business processes alongside Quality Management, ‘said Duncan Lilley, Global Head of Assurance Services at SAI Global.
Organizations certified by SAI Global display the famous “five tick” StandardsMark™ which was shown to have an 82% recognition rate by Australians surveyed by UMR Research in 2005.
