Who Must Participate?

Previously, the re-certification process involved physical attendance at a class offered and taught by GMA-SAFE. Those who attended these classes were given a three-year extension to their expiration dates. As of September 2009, this policy has changed. Classroom-based re-certification has been eliminated. Instead, all GMA-SAFE certified auditors are required to participate in four of the six on-line Recalibration Workshops offered every two years. A modest $150 fee is charged.

Expiration dates will be honored for those auditors who re-certified under the previous requirement of attending a classroom presentation. Also, they are exempt from the $150 fee for the on-line Recalibration Workshops until after their current certifications expire.

Course Objectives

The Auditor Recalibration Workshop provides GMA-SAFE auditors the chance to gather online with the program's directors to work through issues and challenges recognized by staff personnel during the previous year of reviews of SAFE Assessments. Additionally, new services and computing platform information is shared and rehearsed during this two-day training course. Scenarios with regards to how judgments are made are reviewed which helps the auditors within the GMA-SAFE program to make consistent calls with regards to judgments provided to food plants.

Refund Policy

A refund of $125 will be given for cancellations 30 days prior to the workshop. A refund of $75 is allowed for cancellations made at least two weeks before the workshop. After that, no refund will be given.
