RABQSA has advised that the aerospace community has granted permission for RABQSA certified AS9100 courses to include a discussion of AS9100C. This will provide auditors, including internal auditors, with a good background of AS9100C and the differences between Revisions B and C. This also ensures that suppliers do not have to wait for needed AS9100 training and facilitates the transition to AS9100C for organizations. Note that the permission for reviewing AS9100C in courses does not apply to AS9110A or AS9120A courses.
Please note, per RABQSA rules, any RABQSA certified AS9100 courses held before the sanctioned training is released can include AS9100C information and maintain their RABQSA certification. However, the AS9100C information is not covered under the course certification so certificates for these courses cannot reference AS9100C and must be issued to AS9100, Revision B. This applies to all training providers.
Status of AS9104 (REV A) and AS9014 (Original Issue)
The AS9104 Standard, which applies internationally, defines the requirements for aerospace quality management system (AQMS) certification and registration programs. The AS9014 defines how the international requirements will be implemented in the Americas Aerospace Quality Group (AAQG). The AS9104 has been restructured into three documents, generally referred to as the trilogy:
- AS9104/1 - Addresses the basic rules, roles, responsibilities and requirements of AQMS registration/certification programs
- AS9104/2 - Addresses the requirements for oversight of AQMS certification/registration programs
- AS9104/3 - Addresses the requirements for aerospace auditor competency and training courses
The AS9104/2 and AS9104/3 were released in March 2007 and the AS9104/1 is currently being drafted. AAQG intends to remove the AS9014 when all its requirements are incorporated in the AS9104 trilogy.
The AS9104/2 became effective Jan 1, 2008 and the AS9104/3 became effective June 1, 2008.
The intent is to use AS9104/3 as the source for all aerospace auditor training requirements.
Not conforming to the requirements of these standards by the effective dates will put at risk an organization's or individual's aerospace certification.
At SAI Global, we remain committed to presenting the most accurate and current information in all our courses.
We are pleased to report all of our certified aerospace courses already contain the changes required by AS9104/3. The officially recognized course titles will change and those changes are already reflected in our course descriptions and elsewhere on this website. For clarity, the old and new course names are listed.
"Many workers and managers in the aerospace arena struggle to differentiate between an AS9100 auditor, an Aerospace Experience Auditor (AEA) and an Aerospace Industry Experience Auditor (AIEA) and the requirements for achieving these levels of auditor. Commonly, the full implications of related documents such as AS9014, AS9104 and the trilogy and their significance in achieving AS9100/AS9110/AS9120 certifications are not clearly understood. The release of the AS9104 trilogy changed the requirements regarding aerospace certification and the requirements to become qualified to audit in aerospace, which leads to questions. All our AS9100 and AS9110 courses address these questions, eliminating confusion and bringing clarity to the situation."
