When does gift giving or corporate hospitality become bribery?

The implications of the UK Bribery Act for corporate gifts, hospitality and entertainment are set to be significant, and the potential pitfalls substantial; yet it remains a grey area for most organisations. The MOJ's guidance states hospitality should be 'reasonable and proportionate' which to some organisations is far too vague and highly subjective. Others argue that with increased consequences, it is crucial organisations set clear policies for gifts and hospitality, leaving no doubt in the minds of their employees how they should conduct business.
