
The organic inspections are carried out on behalf of Organic Farmers and Growers (OF&G). SAI Global/EFSIS act as the inspection body with the certificates being issued by OF&G.
What the scheme covers
The scheme is applicable to all farmers, growers, processors and importers that wish to be become part of an accredited organic scheme.
Benefits of the scheme
Any person or organisation intending to produce or process these organic products must be subject to an inspection and certification procedure by an approved inspection body. Anyone contravening this Regulation could be subject to prosecution by the Trading Standards Officers.
Accepted by buyers
Supported by suppliers and retailers who wishes to promote an organic claim on the label.
Who does the inspections?
All SAI Global/EFSIS inspectors are suitably trained/qualified to undertake inspections and have a minimum 5 years experience within this sector. Organic inspectors are specifically trained by OF& G and approved by DEFRA
Who does the certification?
SAI Global/EFSIS undertakes the inspection element. All the Certification is carried out by OF&G to procedures for Certification which are assessed by UKAS.
