  • The application of AS/NZS 3760 to portable, handheld and stationary appliances, residual current devices (RCDs), extension leads and flexible cords.
  • Inspection frequency.
  • Inspection and test intervals.
  • Classifications.

A dedicated practitioner of Standards in product safety, performance, design and quality assurance, Reg is an authority on the safety inspection and testing of electrical equipment. His career in the electrical industry spans 48 years and has included employment in the private sector, local government, the Papua New Guinea Electricity Commission and Sharp Corporation. With years of experience in appliance design and manufacturing, equipment testing and the application of Standards to product safety, Reg started his own private consultancy service in 1995 and maintains an active role in many Standards committees, chairing the following:

  • EL/36: In-service testing and inspection of electrical equipment
  • TE/1: Electrical safety information and office equipment
  • Electrical safety of entertainment electrical equipment
  • Effects of leakage current – Human body
  • EL/15/8: Microwave oven performance

He is also a participating member of EL/2, Electrical safety of electrical equipment, and is involved in several other Committees, Subcommittees and Working Groups.
