Legislation dealing with chemical use and handling in the workplace is traditionally one of the areas of safety that is misunderstood and not dealt with until an accident occurs. This is insightful workshop to gain an understanding of your obligations in relation to chemical management.

This workshop has been extended from one day to two days to cover more information.

  • Learn how to ensure that all dangerous goods and hazardous substances in your workplace are dealt with in the appropriate manner
  • Understand your obligations in relation to chemical management and recognise the dangers associated with the chemicals you handle every day; and
  • Gain simplified information on legislation requirements and discover valuable resources.

By the end of this course you will:

  • Understand the relationship between national model regulations, state legislation and Australian Standards
  • Understand your legal obligations in relation to chemicals and gain an insight into the application of the relevant legislation and Standards
  • Identify specific Australian Standards that can assist in storage and handling of chemicals; and
  • Understand basic requirements in relation to the transport of dangerous goods.

Janelle Adrain is the Principal Consultant of Health and Safety Essentials Pty Ltd, a consulting organization specializing in the management of hazardous substances and dangerous goods. Janelle is a chemical engineer with more than 15 years experience in the assessment and management of chemical hazards.
