Day 1 Occupational Health and Hygiene

Day 2  Ergonomics

Day 3 Safety in Design


arrow Purpose

Day one the course covers the principles of toxicology and  clinical coverage of the major occupational illnesses and their prevention. This unit provides the knowledge and skills required by occupational health and safety practitioners to identify, assess and control the risks of chemical, physical, biological and psychological agents that may affect the health of individuals at work.

Day two of the course addresses the principles, processes and techniques of ergonomics including the study of the interaction between people, equipment and the working environment.  Focusing on the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders.

Day three of the course is concerned with eliminating hazards at the design stage and controlling risks to health and safety as early as possible in the planning and design of products, processes or systems of work.

By the end of this course participants should be able to:

  • Understand common and important occupational diseases, injuries and exposures.
  • Monitor and evaluate health risks in the workplace.
  • Manage an occupational health program, including the legal requirements of record keeping.

Apply the principles of safe design and ergonomics to their working environment and conduct formal risk analysis at the workplace.
