The Advanced Diploma Occupational Health and Safety ( BSB61004) is a nationally recognised qualification essential for individuals involved in Occupational Health and Safety advisory and policy making roles, the management of OHS systems, auditing and consulting.
SAI Global has designed a modular approach for the Diploma that comprises “nationally recognised units of competency” (listed) that have been grouped into OHS courses available through our National public course calendar.
This approach enables participants to enrol in modules within the time frame and order of completion to suit individual needs and address immediate workplace skill requirements.
Competency Units include:
- Develop a Systemic Approach to Managing OHS
- Develop OHS Information and Data Analysis, Reporting and Recording Systems.
- Analyse and Evaluate Risk
- Apply Occupational Hygiene Principles to Control OHS Risks
- Apply Ergonomic Principles to Control OHS Risk
- Advise on Application of Safe Design Principles to control OHS Risks
- Evaluate an Organisation’s OHS Performance
- Conduct an OHS Audit.
The benefits of the SAI Global Advanced Diploma Occupational Health and Safety are that participants will also be issued with certificates of attainment for the internationally recognised RABQSA competency units:
RABQSA - AU: Management systems auditing,
RABQSA - TL: Leading management system audit teams and
RABQSA - OH: Auditing OHS management systems.
Our courses are certified under the RABQSA International Training Provider Examination Certification Scheme for OHS management system auditors and will enable successful participants to apply to RABQSA International for certification as a provisional auditor.
To gain the SAI Global Advanced Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety qualification you need to complete all three modules.
Entry requirements
Participants will need to be employed or have access to an organisation to conduct workplace based projects. It is assumed that participants will have sufficient standards of both written and oral English skills to deliver reports.
Participants will need a thorough understanding of OHS Risk Management, and the Australia Standard for OHS Management Systems AS/NZ4801. SAI Global has a number of courses to assist participants with limited work experience in OHS to develop these fundamental skills and knowledge. Individual needs should be discussed with our training Customer Service Team by calling them on 1300 727 444.
