This workshop is intended to dispel the mystery surrounding the terminology used in the internationally recognised ISO 9000 Series of Standards for quality management systems. It explains the contents of these Standards in a way that is easy to understand with specific reference to the health service industry.

Learning Outcomes
- By the end of this course participants should be able to:
- Outline the quality management principles and understand how they contribute to organisational performance;
- Outline the basic structure of the ISO 9000:2000 Series of Standards;
- Outline the concept of the process model;
- Describe the intent of the ISO 9001 requirements;
- Highlight the similarities and differences between quality management systems and other management systems; and
- Identify specific examples of the application of ISO 9001 for the Health Services industry.
