The Standards in the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code are legislative instruments under the Legislative Instruments Act 2003. The code is enforced by State and Territory and New Zealand agencies and the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (for imported food).
The FSANZ Code provides unified food manufacture and handling Standards, and concentrates on protecting public health and safety, whilst providing flexibility to permit industry innovation.
