IBEI president Lori Tansey Martens will serve as a Midi Ethics and Law Advisor; To present global considerations during Midi Virtual Compliance & Ethics Summit
March 1, 2006 – Princeton, NJ and Washington, D.C. – Midi and the International Business Ethics Institute (IBEI) today announced a collaboration in which IBEI will be involved in the globalization of Midi's existing ethics and compliance library as well as new courses developed for the international market. Midi, a leading provider of compliance and ethics solutions that have helped more than 200 companies to inculcate a culture of ethics and compliance in their organizations, will incorporate the international expertise of IBEI to elevate the cultural and global sensitivity and point-of-view of its offerings. As part of this collaboration, IBEI president Lori Tansey Martens is now a Midi Ethics and Law Advisor, a team of respected practicing lawyers and ethicists who are recognized experts in ethics and compliance issues.
"When implementing effective ethics and compliance training programs, it is imperative that the courses are developed in a way that will make them relevant to the person viewing them," said Midi CEO and President Elizabeth Tomaszewicz. "Too often American companies apply a one size fits all approach to delivering their training. This is not only culturally insensitive but can also be a real encumbrance to an effective program. Our relationship with IBEI, the leader in this area, will enable us to deliver the most compelling international offerings on the market today."
Through this agreement, IBEI will thoroughly review Midi offerings to ensure that they are relevant for and sensitive to an international audience. IBEI will provide direction to Midi on how to enhance the learning experience for an organization's multinational employees, which will increase the efficacy of the programs.
"We are thrilled to be working with Midi to optimize ethics training programs for international users," said Lori Tansey Martens, president of IBEI. "Online training is increasingly important for global companies, yet current offerings on the market are very "US-centric" and can alienate international employees. Our partnership with Midi will provide training material that is relevant for a diverse and global audience."
Ms. Martens will bring her expertise and international insight to the Midi Ethics and Law Advisors group. As part of this organization, she will assist in developing new courses and update existing courses to stay current with developing law. A key element of an effective compliance program is ensuring that employees continue to appreciate the meaning and importance of the training subject matter to all aspects of their work and as such an important value-add brought by Midi Ethics and Law Advisors is creating refresher and follow-on courses.
