The Commonwealth Disability Service Standards apply to organisations that receive funding from the Commonwealth Government for the provision of disability employment services. This may be through the Department of Family and Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FACSIA) and the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR).
The quality strategy for employment services was designed to:
- Give people with disabilities better confidence in the quality of results that disability employment services achieve for them
- Ensure all services meet, as a minimum, the Disability Services Standards
- Make the assessment of quality more objective and measurable
- Treat all service providers equality
- Reduce government intervention in the day to day operation of services
- Help services continue improvement
