The Board of SAI Global Limited (ASX:SAI) announced today that the Board has appointed Mr Robert Wright as its Chairman. Mr Wright has served on the Board since listing in December 2003 and has participated on the Board’s Audit & Risk Committee since that time, including as the Committee Chairman from 1 July 2005 to date. The Appointment is effective from today.

Mr Wright’s appointment follows Mr George Edward’s advice today that that he has resigned as Chairman and Director of the Company and of its related bodies corporate. Mr Edwards said that he tendered his resignation reluctantly, due to his private business commitments overseas that required his absence from Australia on increasingly frequent and prolonged trips.

Mr Edwards said, “Having served on the Company’s Board since listing in 2003 and for some 11 years prior to that, the decision to resign has been an especially difficult one for me. During the last 16 years, I have not only seen the Company transform and flourish from a not-for-profit structure, to a vibrant and commercially driven industry leader, but I have also had the privilege of forming some wonderful friendships that I will always treasure, particularly amongst the Company’s dedicated and hardworking employees, whom I will no doubt miss. I am confident that the challenges faced by the Company over the first half year have been overcome and that the Company has a bright and exciting future ahead. I extend my best wishes to everyone involved in that future, particularly my fellow directors, whose support and collegiality I’ve enjoyed immensely.”

The Company’s Chairman, Mr Robert Wright, said, “On behalf of the Board and the Company as a whole, I wish to express my gratitude and appreciation for Mr Edwards’ valuable contribution to and leadership of the Company and its development over many years. He can be very proud of what we have achieved together and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours”.
